The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (or “Innovation Center”) has released a white paper outlining the Center’s strategic objectives for its second decade, with the goal of achieving equitable outcomes through high-quality, affordable, person-centered care. In reviewing lessons learned from the Center’s first decade, the Innovation Center recognized a need to embed equity in every model, including by launching more Medicaid-focused models. Going forward, the Innovation Center’s five strategic objectives are to:

  1. Drive accountable care
  2. Advance health equity
  3. Support care innovations
  4. Improve access by addressing affordability
  5. Partner to achieve system transformation
