Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a report titled “Congress Must Act to Bring Needed Reforms to the 340B Drug Pricing Program” on April 24, 2025. The report is the culmination of the Senator’s investigation into the 340B Program that began over a year and a half ago. The investigation comprised of information gathering from eight 340B Program participants–a mixture of hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), contract pharmacies, and drug manufacturers–to understand how covered entities are spending 340B revenues. Senator Cassidy homed in on how covered entities’ 340B revenue directly benefits patients. The report then suggests five specific reforms to the 340B Program ranging from calls for transparency and data reporting to further investigations into financial arrangements.
